Setu launches BBPS ClickPay in the Global Fintech Fest title image

India has a lot of recurring payments to make — electricity bills, water bills, mobile recharges, loan EMIs and OTT subscriptions to name a few.

Customers need to make periodic payments for several of these services but it’s almost impossible to remember what they all are. Even if you do remember them, navigating and completing payments on different websites is an arduous task. If it’s a government website, the customer experience is nothing short of subpar.

Getting on boarded on BBPS (Bharat Bill Payment System) — the largest interoperable bill payment network in India, will enable customers to discover and pay recurring payments directly from their favourite UPI apps. BBPS is an integrated bill payment system in India offering recurring payment service to customers through a network of agents of registered members called agent Institutions. It facilitates transactions across several categories like electricity, water, loan EMIs, subscription renewals and many more.

Setu, in partnership with NPCI (National payments Corporation of India) has launched BBPS pay links — also called ClickPay — to facilitate recurring payment collection.

Watch our Founder Nikhil Kumar talk about how ClickPay will change the way Indians make recurring payments!

If you’ve paid your electricity bill on a popular UPI app like PhonePe and PayTm, you can be certain that the transaction went through the BBPS payment network.

In the wake of RBI’s recent announcement on recurring payments, ClickPay is poised to revolutionise how recurring payments are collected.

Clickpay allows businesses to create unique links to their customers for smooth and seamless payment collection. This will also drive down exorbitant recurring payment charges that businesses pay for recurring payment collection.

Ujjivan Small Finance Bank is the first customer to go live on Setu’s BBPS Clickpay. Ujjivan SFB can now easily create and send EMI reminder links to their borrowers, thus simplifying the loan repayment journey and bringing down the cost of collections.

Several subscription players (digital goods) have also joined the BBPS bandwagon to subpass the fat commissions that App store and Playstore charges!
